American football is played in the fall and winter every year on a football field. It consists of four 15 minute periods with each team having 11 players on the field for each play. Each team tries to score by getting the football to the opposing team’s end zone by either running or passing the football. The National Football League (NFL) is made up of 32 teams that pay players ridiculous amounts of money to sacrifice their bodies every week to win a game. Every team has the same goal, win the Superbowl. In the regular season, each team plays 16 games to determine who plays in the playoffs. After 3 weeks of playoffs, the teams that will play in the Superbowl are determined. It is common in the United States to have or go to a Superbowl party. Some people only watch for the commercials on TV but many others cheer loud for their team.
